After growing herbs in a container outdoors, transitioning them indoors for the winter may be difficult. But it can be done.
Herbs planted together in containers generally thrive through their first season. Keeping them together longer than that is risky because the larger the herbs get, the more root room they require. Eventually they’ll start competing for space.
If you want to move them indoors and grow them for more than one year, try growing your herbs in separate containers. But if you like how they look planted together in a big container in the summer, transplant them to separate containers in the fall. As long as they have enough root space, the herbs should do well inside on a sunny windowsill, but they’ll do even better under grow lights.
